Patrick Owens, Executive Director
Mr. Owens’ background in both the arts and finance have given him a unique outlook on how to create organizations that are resilient, curious, and responsive to changing markets and changing audience behaviors, wishes, and tastes. He has launched and managed capital markets, banking and business development divisions for large international banks, has advised on a variety of mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sectors, and has coordinated mergers of cross-border banking platforms. He has served on executive committees overseeing strategic planning, talent development, and the introduction of new products and services.
A devotee of eclectic genres of music and performance, with a particular love of classical music, Mr. Owens has developed a wide range of arts projects and commercial gallery programs. He has curated numerous exhibitions, produced numerous projects and has collaborated with a wide range of artists across a variety of media. As co-founder of The Lipton Owens Company, a contemporary art company, he focused on developing numerous curatorial projects and introducing emerging and mid-career artists to audiences throughout the U.S. Mr. Owens has contributed to a number of artist monographs and exhibition catalogues.
His lifelong passion for the transformative power of the arts combined with a commitment to organizational innovation and sustainability has guided nonprofit arts and cultural organizations to develop strategic planning, business planning, program development and board development solutions to enhance their capacity and impact.
Mr. Owens currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of Visual AIDS, the only contemporary arts organization fully committed to raising AIDS awareness and creating dialogue around HIV issues. He also serves as a founding board member of an artist foundation. Mr. Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattan College and Master of Public Administration from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
